Thinking Out Loud

On the Forefront of Modern Apartment Design

--

I recently shared a post on Linkedin about this retractable bed. At first glance I thought how cool and innovative this is. This system looks so smart, practical and well designed, and there’s no doubt that it is. Thankfully there’s a manual release baked into the designs. The thought of needing to go to sleep and having the bed stuck on the ceiling during a power failure would be quite problematic.

Are ceiling beds and retractable furniture designs a sign of our modern society’s progress and ingenuity, or a depressing thought about how little space many people on the planet have to contend with when it comes to apartment living. We know that prices are higher, spaces are smaller, new constructions are only getting tinier, some even to the point where the apartments feel more like a compact closet than a living space.

Would having a backup electrical generator in these buildings not prove to be a better investment in light of the many climate change disruptions?

Like the video says, maybe I’m just overthinking it! What do you think?
